The Central Ostrobothnia Family Counselling Centre provides professional, confidential and accessible counselling. 

Our mission is to strengthen relationships, promote well-being and help people find constructive solutions during challenging situations in life. We specialize in couples counselling and relationship issues, but individuals and families are also welcome.

With compassion and expertise we support people in finding hope, resilience and new perspectives. We provide a safe and respectful environment where every client is heard and valued. The therapists and the secretary are bound by professional secrecy and the counselling sessions are strictly confidential. 

Common reasons for visiting the Family Counselling Centre are:

  • difficulties in communication
  • divorce – you want to try to prevent it or need support for coping with it
  • infidelity or jealosy
  • emotional, physical, sexual, religious or economic violence
  • difficult phase of life – for example becoming a parent or empty nest syndrome
  • difficult life events or crisis – for example sickness, death or unemployment
  • challenges related to sexuality or identity
  • parenting challenges or disagreements
  • difficulties in relatioships due to neurodiversity 

For whom is the service intended?

We welcome all adults living in Central Ostrobothnia, regardless of their relationship status, family situation or family structure. You do not have to be a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church or be a Christian to use these services. The services are free of charge for the customers.

Our counselling services are available in Finnish, Swedish and English. Unfortunately, we do not currently have interpretation services available for other languages.

How do I register?

Registration as a customer and reservation changes by phone on 050 3147 464 (Mon 8-12, Tue 11-12, Wed-Thu 8-12) or by e-mail perheneuvonta.kokkola@evl.fi

When registering, briefly describe your situation and provide your address, phone number and email address. The waiting time varies, but usually it is a few weeks.

When an appointment is confirmed, the visiting address is Kustaa Aadolfinkatu 16, Kokkola. It is also possible to engage in discussions over the phone or through video calls.
